Girls on the Run RGV hosts two 10 week seasons a year for Girls on the Run (grades 3rd-5th) and Heart & Sole (grades 6th-8th).

Fall Season: September through November
Spring Season: January through April

We currently serve over 10 sites in South Texas and we are looking to expand to more sites for the Fall 2016 season.  If there is no GOTR or Heart & Sole program at your child’s school or in your community, you can launch one!

There is no fee to become a host site.  Each program site requires a minimum of 8 participants and is limited to a maximum of 15. A site is usually a school, but can also be a community center, YMCA, or other location with facilities suitable for a running program. Each program site is required to have a minimum of two trained coaches.  The program fee is $150 and we have scholarship funding available for girls or teams who are unable to pay the full fee.

While Girls on the Run® provides almost everything needed to run the program, the site sponsors are required to provide the following in order to establish the program.

  • Obtain the necessary approval from the school, district or site to host a GOTR/Heart & Sole program.
  • Provide a safe place for running.  This does not have to be a track.  A field, walking trail or parking lot is satisfactory.
  • Provide a “rainy day” site (classroom, gym or other indoor area).  In most cases, teams will eventually run outside, but there must be an indoor space for safety.
  • Choose two days a week for the program to meet (90 minutes each session).
  • Two trained coaches must be present at every practice.
